About Digital Karma
What is Digital Karma?
Digital Karma is a personal cybersecurity platform that helps you understand and improve your online safety. We offer a Risk Score assessment that measures your digital vulnerability across 10 critical areas, a gamified cyber curriculum to teach you practical security skills, and tools like our Digital Footprint Scanner to show you what’s already exposed about you online.
Who is Digital Karma for?
Digital Karma is designed for everyday people — parents, seniors, small business owners, students, and anyone who uses the internet but doesn’t have a cybersecurity background. If you’ve ever worried about getting hacked, having your identity stolen, or not knowing if your data is safe, Digital Karma is for you.
How is Digital Karma different from antivirus software?
Antivirus software protects your devices from malware. Digital Karma protects you by teaching you to recognize threats, improving your security habits, and showing you what’s already exposed about you online. Think of it as the human layer of cybersecurity — the one that antivirus can’t cover.
Is Digital Karma free?
We’re currently in our pre-launch phase. You can take our survey to unlock early access and exclusive pre-order pricing. Our founding tier starts at just $9.97 for lifetime access.
Risk Score
What is a Risk Score?
Your Risk Score is a number from 0 to 100 that represents how exposed your personal information is online. Think of it like golf — a lower score means less exposure and better privacy. A score under 30 is considered low risk, 31–60 is moderate, 61–80 is high, and anything above 80 is critical.
How is my Risk Score calculated?
When you run a Digital Footprint Scan, we analyze seven areas of your online presence: how many places confirm your identity, your professional visibility, social media exposure, involvement in known data breaches, presence on people-search and data broker sites, how much of your personal network is discoverable, and your overall attack surface — meaning how easy it would be for someone to target you using publicly available information. Each area receives its own score, and they're combined into your overall Risk Score using a weighted formula that reflects real-world risk.
What are the seven scoring categories?
Your Risk Score is built from seven categories: (1) Identity Anchors — how many platforms and records confirm who you are; (2) Professional Footprint — how visible your work history, employer, and job title are; (3) Social Media Exposure — how public your social profiles and posts are; (4) Breach Exposure — whether your email or credentials have appeared in known data breaches; (5) Data Broker Exposure — how many people-search sites likely have a profile on you; (6) Network Risk — whether your family members, associates, and relationships are discoverable; and (7) Attack Surface — how all of these data points could be combined to target you.
Why is it scored like golf (lower is better)?
Your Risk Score measures exposure — the less of your personal information is out there, the safer you are. A low score means there's very little an attacker could find about you online. A high score means there's a lot of publicly available information that could be used against you. So just like golf, you want to drive that number down.
What does my risk level mean?
Your risk level is a plain-English label based on your score. Low (0–30) means minimal public exposure — you're in good shape. Moderate (31–60) means there's some information out there that's worth cleaning up. High (61–80) means a significant amount of personal data is accessible and you should take action soon. Critical (81–100) means your information is widely available and you're at elevated risk for identity theft, phishing, or social engineering attacks.
Can I improve my Risk Score?
Absolutely. After your scan, you'll receive a personalized action plan with specific steps — like opting out of data brokers, tightening social media privacy settings, changing compromised passwords, and more. Users who follow their action plan typically see meaningful improvement. You can rescan anytime to track your progress.
How often should I scan?
We recommend scanning at least once a quarter. Your digital footprint changes over time — new data breaches happen, people-search sites re-list your information, and new accounts or mentions appear. Regular scans help you stay on top of your exposure and catch new risks early.
Privacy & Data
What data do you collect?
We collect only what’s necessary: your email address and name for your account, your assessment answers to calculate your Risk Score, and anonymized analytics to improve our platform. We never sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for purposes beyond improving your cybersecurity.
Is my footprint scan data private?
Yes. Your scan results are encrypted and stored securely. The information our scanner finds is already publicly available — we’re showing you what’s out there so you can take action. Community statistics are fully anonymized with zero personally identifiable information.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through your account settings. We believe your data is yours — you have full control.
Learning & Curriculum
What topics does the curriculum cover?
Our cyber curriculum covers password security, phishing recognition, device hardening, Wi-Fi safety, social media privacy, email protection, data broker removal, identity theft prevention, safe browsing habits, and more. Each module includes interactive lessons, real-world scenarios, and hands-on exercises.
How long does it take to complete?
Each module takes about 15-30 minutes. You can work at your own pace and pick up where you left off. Most users complete the core curriculum within 2-4 weeks of casual learning.
Do I need technical knowledge?
Not at all. Our curriculum is designed for beginners and uses plain language, real-world analogies, and step-by-step instructions. If you can use email and browse the web, you can learn with Digital Karma.
Pricing & Pre-Orders
What are the pricing tiers?
We offer three pre-order tiers: Founding Member ($9.97, lifetime access), Early Adopter ($19.97, lifetime + priority features), and Launch Supporter ($29.97, lifetime + premium support + family plan). After launch, the monthly subscription will be $4.97/mo.
Why do I need to complete the survey first?
Our survey helps us understand your cybersecurity needs and concerns so we can build the best possible product. As a thank-you for your valuable feedback, survey participants get exclusive early access and pre-order pricing that won’t be available after launch.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all pre-orders. If Digital Karma isn’t what you expected, we’ll refund you — no questions asked.
Community & Support
How can I get help?
You can reach us through the feedback button available on every page of the app, or through our community board. We read every piece of feedback and respond to support requests as quickly as possible.
Is there a community feature?
Yes! Our Community Board lets you share cybersecurity tips, ask questions, and connect with other Digital Karma users. It’s a safe space to learn from each other’s experiences.
